On-U sound are proud to announce there will be a limited edition, clear vinyl, reissue of the debut Creation Rebel album for Record Store Day, 21st April 2018.
This is the seminal first studio work by revered dub producer Adrian Sherwood, and engineered by legendary dub pioneer Dennis Bovell. Dub From Creation was originally released on pre-On-U Sound label Hitrun in 1978 and is one of the jewels in Adrian Sherwood’s crown, produced when he was just 19 years old.
Dub From Creation is a classic of the genre and has been unavailable on vinyl since it’s original release. This is one of the albums most requested for reissue by On-U fans, with original copies now commanding high prices second-hand. It is also apt that 2018 sees the 40th anniversary since the release of this album.
The reissue will feature two bonus tracks, ‘Frontline Speech’ and ‘Frontline Dub’ by Prince Far I. These two tracks were recorded during the same period, with Creation Rebel as the backing musicians, and while not making it onto Prince Far I’s now classic ‘Cry Tuff Dub Encounter Chapter 1’ LP, they provided the rhythm for the title track, while being released as a 7″ single on Far I’s own ‘Cry Tuff’ label in Jamaica.
The vinyl includes a download card for digital downloads – available as Lossless audio, or MP3 – and a printed inner sleeve with a new essay by Steve Barker telling the story of the recording in full.
Although you’ll have to wait until 21st April for the vinyl, Dub From Creation is available to stream right now on Spotify.
