African Head Charge ‘Return Of The Crocodile’ LP and 5CD Early Years Boxset Anthology

Earlier this year we put out vinyl reissues of the first four African Head Charge albums – My Life In A Hole In The Ground, Environmental Studies, Drastic Season and Off The Beaten Track. We’ve now followed this up with an 8-track vinyl LP of unreleased tracks and version excursions from that same early-80s period: Return Of The Crocodile. All the music has been lovingly transferred from the original decaying tapes and sequenced for release by On-U archivist Patrick Dokter.

As Steve Barker remarks in the accompanying sleevenotes, these go beyond mere off-cuts and are vital examples of the intense sonic alchemy Adrian and Bonjo were cooking up in their basement studio in the white hot heat of their early years.

Alongside the vinyl LP, we’re also issuing a 5-disc CD boxset, Environmental Holes & Drastic Tracks 1981 – 1986, which compiles all 5 of the above mentioned LPs, plus the tracks from the Super Mystic Brakes EP (previously only a ltd vinyl 10” for Record Store Day). Both releases are out now – buy them from your local independent record shop or direct from the label via the below links.
